Day 7 - Who Seeks Finds
This is the story of a woman who once knew God but chose to stray from Him at an early age.
As a young teenager, she didn’t find in the church the happiness that the world seemed to offer.
Years later, amidst the world's pleasures, she ignored God's power and boldly stated: "If I could
have just a little more money, we, as a family, would be exceedingly happy."
Five years after making that statement, everything she had was gone. She was on the brink of
death, clinging to life by the mercy of God. But in her despair, she remembered that only God
has power over life and death. In desperation, she prayed, "Please, save me, Lord." She knew
that He alone could grant her life. And He did. The Lord heard her plea, and she reconciled her
relationship with Him.
This story, set in the 21st century, mirrors the experiences of Israel during the time of Jeremiah.
Israel was a rebellious and ungrateful nation, yet the Lord continually forgave their sins and
returned to help them. Today, the same is true. He is the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel; even
now, if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us 1 .
The woman in the story reconciled with God and was born again, and her most consistent
prayer became, "Lord, don't let me stray from You." Like King David, she glorifies God for
everything in her life. Her God is great, and nothing is impossible for Him.
Today's church should live by the same principle that Habakkuk wrote even when
circumstances are dire, we must continue to exalt the name of the Lord 2 , recognizing that He is
our strength and refuge, the One in whom we always trust.
The best way to exalt our Lord and celebrate the best season of the year is to keep our eyes
fixed on Jesus, following the teachings He left for us in the Gospel. But seek first the kingdom of
God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you 3 .
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, the truth that sustains our lives, and for keeping the
promises that encourage us when we face life's storms. Dear Father, give us the wisdom to
seek Your kingdom and righteousness above all else so that we may be content, grateful, and
able to worship You amid distress, sorrow, or poverty. Thank You, Lord, for allowing me to come
into Your presence anytime, with any prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.
