Day 5 - KEEPING OUR EYES FIXED ON HIM

I don’t want to lose the habit of reading. My career as a lawyer instilled this in me, and I love it.
Reading keeps my mind active all day and night, just like what I hear or watch—especially on TV.
Today is a good day to reflect on the importance of seeking the kingdom of God first, every day.
When we prioritize Him, everything else aligns with His purpose for our lives.

King David prayed, “In the morning, Lord, I bring my requests to You and wait expectantly all day
long”
1 . He taught us to begin each day by seeking God’s presence. Jesus modeled the same
devotion, often praying in the early morning and late at night, no matter how far He had traveled.
When we feed ourselves daily with what God provides, we become saints ready to face the world
—not alone, but with the Spirit of God as our guide and Jesus as our perfect companion. Who else
do we need?

The culture around us often promotes Christmas as a season of joy, peace, food, and gifts. Yet
this concept is shallow and empty if Jesus is not at the center. Even for Christians, the season
loses its meaning when Jesus does not hold the priority in our hearts.

The prophet Daniel gives us an extraordinary example of seeking God’s kingdom amid a busy life.
As second in command in Babylon, he remained steadfast, praying three times a day. From a
young age, he carefully followed God’s commandments, taught to him by his parents. Isn’t this a
remarkable model for us to follow?

If we truly want to overcome the battle between the world and our flesh, we must consider how we
nourish our spirits. Just as we feed our bodies, we must feed our minds and hearts with God’s truth
daily.

As God’s people, Jesus calls us to make a difference. He asks us to show the world His peace,
even amid life’s storms, by keeping our eyes fixed on Him.

This Christmas, let us open our hearts to the Prince of Peace. Give Him the place He deserves in
your life. Feed your spirit daily with His presence and His Word. Lay your stresses before Him and
ask for the wisdom to live the life He desires for you.

Centuries ago, Jesus prayed for us, and His prayer is still alive today:

“I pray for them. I am not praying for the world but for those you have given me, because they are
yours. Holy Father, protect them by your name that you have given me, so that they may be one as
we are one... Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:9-17).

Lord, we ask today for wisdom. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us, granting discernment and
revelation. Open our minds to Your truth and our ears to Your voice. Fill us with Your Spirit so that
our lives may glorify You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
