21 Days of
Prayer & Fasting
At Pinewood Church we believe that prayer is our priority.
When we pray & fast, things change, both in our hearts & in the world around us.
This season of 21 days of prayer & fasting is designed to prioritize our relationship with God & to focus our attention on what matters most.
Whether you can't imagine your life without prayer or you can't imagine where to begin, the power of prayer isn't determined by the presentation. It's not the strength of our faith, it's the object of our faith that changes things.
Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Why Pray?
Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like Him and partner with Him in the world.
Prayer is mentioned more than 500 times in Scripture. Throughout the life of Jesus, we see Jesus in prayer with our heavenly Father. Prayer was the foundation of his life here on Earth. If prayer was integral to him, how much more must it be integral for us?
WHY FAST?
Fasting is going without food for a set amount of time to awaken our body and soul to our deep hunger and need for God. Fasting is one of the most essential and powerful practices of Jesus, allowing us to integrate our entire person, including our body, around God.
The ultimate aim of fasting is to get in touch with our hunger for God. Hunger is the state of wanting or needing something you do not have. When we fast, we awaken our body and soul to its deep yearning for life with the Father.
Pray
Take time to pray about your fast and each day of your fast. In moments of yearning and hunger fill yourself with Jesus.
