Day 1 - The Advent Call to Share His Love

The Advent Call to Share His Love

As the Advent season approaches, Christians around the world prepare to celebrate
the birth of Jesus Christ, reflecting on the promise of a Messiah fulfilled over two
thousand years ago. Advent signifies the arrival of a notable person, and the people
of Israel awaited the Messiah for centuries, with prophets foretelling His coming as
early as six hundred years before His birth.
They received a promise, and God the Father confirmed it through Jeremiah: “I will
fulfill the good promise.”1
Later, Jesus fulfilled that prophecy; in Bethlehem, a little
boy was born to a virgin.

More than two thousand years ago, we received the right to be chosen by the same
Messiah. Now, for us, He is our Lord and Savior. As we look around, we find ourselves
living in controversial times, amidst worldly turmoil. We are witnessing wars,
devastation, natural disasters, human depravity, drug abuse, and countless other
issues that create a great sense of desperation, leaving those without God with no
place to escape and find peace. Yet, as Christians, we are the children of God, and we
have the inherent right to go to Him and ask, just as David did: “Show me your ways,
Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for You are my God,
my Savior.”2

This season, as we prepare our hearts for Jesus, we might ask ourselves: Is He at the
center of our lives, or have we relegated Him to a lesser place? Among the promises
of the Messiah is the announcement that Jesus is coming back, and while the world
may distract us with anxieties, Jesus warns us: “Be careful, or your hearts will be
weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and the anxieties of life, and that day
will close on you suddenly like a trap.”3

As we gather with our families and friends, let us remember that many still need to
hear the message of salvation. During this special time, let's actively seek
opportunities to share the hope and love of Jesus with those around us, whether
through acts of kindness, sharing our faith stories, or inviting others to join us in
worship. Just as God promised, “We will be saved by the Lord with everlasting
salvation,”4
we are called to share that Savior’s love.

Beloved, as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior, we as a church invite you
to think about His return, allowing Jesus to fill your heart with His truth, justice, love,
and the desire to share His everlasting love with a world in need. Please pray, as
David did:

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is
any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.”5
